I cannot make the borders in a Numbers table stay in the table nor print?

Frustrated,

Jim.....

Thanks Michael for the vidio.

I neglected to tell you that I did select the entire table, then apply the "Inside Borders" selection and the borders appeared. I also selected "Apply Border Selection" from the "Borders" menu. Then if I click anywhere within the table or outside of the table the borders disappear. Also after applying the borders and then going to print the borders do not print. I even went so far to reload the Numbers application from disc.

Thanks again for the updated video. I noticed the step that I was not doing - after selecting the border type, select the line type. That did the trick.

Thanks again,

Jim......

Jim,

Wow. I know this has to be frustrating.

Unfortunately, the Numbers User Guide doesn't have a lot of information on this subject. I did figure out how to get my cursor to show when I record a video, so I want to give it another shot.

I'm going to try and re-create the steps you detailed in your question.

I recorded the movie in print view and verified that the borders printed. Also, I am running Numbers '09, but I don't remember having a problem with borders in Numbers '08 of that is the version you are running.

You should be able to see all my clicks now (with the exception of when I picked a different color). Is this the type of border you are going for?

The video quality still isn't the best -- shrinking it for YouTube took away some detail -- but at least you can now see the mouse pointer.

Here's the new video:

Numbers Table Border Demo 2

Please follow up and let me know if you figure it out.

Thanks,

Michael

I also couldn't get the borders to "stick". then I discovered you have to be sure the points for line thickness are set large enough. the default is .25 pt, much too small.

I also had problems. However, I first adjusted the line color and thickness to make it visible to me. For example, if you make the lines red in color, you can see them when you select print. Once I realized I was on to this, I then adjusted the line thickness and set the color back to black. It appears that Numbers defaults to a very light line color.
